These Easter Bunny Rolls are fun and festive dinner rolls for your Easter dinner. They’re flavored with garlic, onion powder, sesame seeds, and poppy seeds.

Easter Bunny Rolls
An easy yeast bread recipe for dinner rolls on your Easter table that young and old will adore. These Bunny Rolls are always a hit. They are soft and buttery and flavored with just the right amount of savory seasonings.
The kids love to help shape the dough into the bunnies and put the tails on them before baking. They are adorable when done baking and even better to eat!
Is it better to bake in glass or metal?
While you can certainly bake rolls in a glass dish, we prefer to use a metal baking sheet. Metal heats up faster than glass which results in a better rise in the rolls. The metal also helps give that golden brown hue that we love on the rolls better than glass does.
Can I use store-bought dough to make rolls?
Homemade is always better, right? But if you are in a hurry, you can use the store-bought dough as a substitute to form into the bunnies to make these rolls. Just note you will not have the same savory taste as this homemade dough as you will not be mixing in the seasonings to the store-bought dough.
How to make Easter Bunny Rolls recipe:
STEP ONE: First, make the dough by activating the yeast in a stand mixer. Mix in the seasonings and then add the flour in small increments.
STEP TWO: After the dough is ready, transfer it to an oiled bowl to let rise. Let it rise until doubled in size.
STEP THREE: Next, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
STEP FOUR: Punch the dough down and cut it into six equal parts. Roll each piece into a 15-inch long rope. Cut 1/2 inch of dough off of each end and roll them into balls.
STEP FIVE: Fold and twist the dough to form shape the bunnies. Add a dough ball for the bunny tail.
STEP SIX: Let the rolls rise again for fifteen minutes. Then make the egg wash and brush each roll with it.
STEP SEVEN: Finally, bake for 21-23 minutes and brush butter on each of the rolls after taking them out of the oven. Let cool for thirty minutes before serving.

The Flavor and Recipe Variations
- If you’d rather plain dinner rolls, leave out the seeds, garlic, and onion powder.
- To make these for Easter morning, leave out the seasonings and seeds, and add orange or lemon zest. Then, brush the rolls with an orange or lemon glaze. Then, top with sprinkles!

How long is it good for:
Serve & Store: You can keep these covered at room temperature for about 2 days before they go stake.
Freeze: Once the rolls are cooled, place them in freezer-safe Ziploc bags and freeze for up to 2 months. Defrost the rolls at room temperature for about 2 hours. Then, warm them in a 325 degree F oven for 2-4 minutes or until heated through.
How to get the kids involved with this recipe:
Ages 2-3: Let your child roll the dough into dough balls. They can then place the tails on the bunny buns.
Ages 4-5: Your child can help you roll the dough pieces into 15-inch long ropes. This will be like making a snake for them!
Ages 6-8: Have your child help fold and twist the dough to make the bunny shapes.
Ages 9-11: Supervise them while they prepare the entire recipe. Remember to have them read it twice before beginning the recipe.
Ages 12+: Let them prepare the entire recipe, unsupervised, while you do the happy dance in the corner!

Bunny Dinner Rolls
Equipment

Ingredients
ROLLS:
- 3 cups of all-purpose flour
- 2 ½ teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water 90-95 degrees F
- 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 2 teaspoon sesame seeds
- 1 ¼ teaspoon poppy seeds
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup of olive oil
EGG WASH:
- 1 egg
- 1 Tablespoon water
TOPPING:
- 2 Tablespoons butter melted
Instructions
MAKE DOUGH:
- In the bowl of a stand-up mixer fixed with a dough hook, pour in water, yeast, and sugar. Mix until combined.
- Wait 10 minutes for the yeast to become foamy.
- Add in minced garlic, onion powder, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, and salt. Mix until combined, and then add the oil.
- Add the flour in small increments, mixing a few seconds between each addition.
- Keep mixing on low speed for 3-4 minutes. The mixture initially will appear dry, but as you mix more it will be a firm dough with all the flour incorporated.
RISE DOUGH:
- Transfer the dough to an oiled bowl and let it rise for 1 hour or until it doubled in size.
PREP OVEN AND BAKING SHEET:
- Once the hour has passed, move the oven rack to the middle position and preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
SHAPE BUNNY ROLLS:
- Punch the dough down and transfer it to a lightly floured surface.
- Cut the dough into 6 equal parts.
- Roll each piece of dough into a rope that is 15 inches long.
- Cut ½ inch of dough off of each end.
- Roll the ½ inch dough pieces into balls and set them aside.
- Loosely fold each rope in half and twist each piece twice close to where the ends meet to form the bunny ears.
- Place the roll on the prepared baking sheet and add a little ball of dough below the twist for the tail of the bunny.
RISE AGAIN:
- Let the rolls rise for 15 minutes.
EGG WASH AND BAKE:
- In a small bowl whisk together egg and water.
- Brush each roll with egg wash.
- Bake for 21-23 minutes or until the buns are golden.
TO FINISH:
- Once out of the oven, brush butter on each of the rolls and let them sit for a few minutes 5 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack.
- Cool for 30 minutes before serving.
Notes
- You can make this recipe into 12 smaller rolls if you’d like. You would decrease the baking time to 15-20 minutes.
