Acai Breakfast Bowl Recipe Tips
I make these year-round to keep in the freezer, so my kids can grab them and add their own toppings in the mornings. I’ve made this recipe countless times, and I’ve put together my top tips to help you make a perfect bowl on your first try.
- Use frozen fruit. If the fruit is fresh or thawed, it will alter the texture of the acai bowls.
- Use a high-powered blender to get a smooth consistency. I have a Blendtec.
- Save any crunchy toppings, like coconut flakes and granola, for the very end so they do not get soggy.
- The toppings are the best part! My favorites are: blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, mangoes, bananas, chia seeds, honey, granola, and peanut butter.
- This is my favorite homemade granola recipe, and it makes the best topping for these bowls.
Ingredients & Estimated Cost:
Here is everything you need to make this recipe, along with a few substitution recommendations.

- Frozen Acai (4 cups – $6.48): I used Acai and Dragon Fruit blend, but any flavor will work.
- Bananas (2 – $0.50): Use ripe bananas or substitute with ½ cup applesauce.
- Greek Yogurt (2 cups – $1.78): Use whatever flavor you prefer. I use Ancient Greek Original.
- 3 scoops Vanilla Protein Powder (3 scoops – $3.60): Use your favorite brand. I use Optimum Nutrition Whey.
- Almond milk (1 cup – $0.28): I used Unsweetened Vanilla Almond milk. You can also use regular milk, coconut milk, or oat milk.
