Chocolate Crinkle Cookies

Christmas is the best time for baking. Time spent in the kitchen with the kiddos and loved ones baking up sweet treats and memories is priceless.

However, it really can get pricey. The recipe we are sharing with you today will keep you on budget and in the kitchen, creating wonderful memories.

These Chocolate Crinkle Cookies are a tradition at Christmas-time. The rich, creamy, brownie-like center with the crisp cookie edge dusted in powdered sugar melt in your mouth.

They are perfect for bringing to a holiday party, leaving out on a plate for Santa, a weekend treat for you or your family, or for placing among other treats on a cookie tray you deliver to friends and family.

Although Chocolate Crinkle Cookies are a holiday staple, they really can be made any time of the year! We love serving them as Valentine’s Day treat or at a baby shower or other family gathering. There is no sense in limiting ourselves to enjoy these cookies only once a year!

What is a chocolate crinkle cookie?

It is a black and white cookie that is a perfectly festive Christmas cookie. They are made out of a chocolate dough rolled in powdered sugar then baked to perfection, creating a soft inside with a crispy outer layer.

Why are my chocolate crinkle cookies flat?

Flat cookies are the worst! There are a couple of things that could be causing this. First, did you chill the dough for at least thirty minutes? Chilling the dough before baking helps keep the dough from spreading while baking. The second thing to check is to make sure the correct amount of flour was used. Not enough flour in the dough is also a culprit of flat cookies.

Can chocolate crinkle cookies be frozen?

Yes, this is a great recipe for freezing. You can actually freeze these cookies before or after baking. If you freeze them after baking, be sure to let them cool completely first. Then place them in an airtight container in single layers between sheets of parchment paper. The cookies will stay fresh in the freezer for up to three months.
