Recipe FAQs
Yes, you can use any type of short noodle for this casserole. Some examples of other kinds of pasta that will work for this recipe include penne, rotini, or bowtie pasta.
Initially, you will want to bake the dish covered to help keep the dish from drying out. Bake the dish for twenty to twenty-five minutes covered, remove the foil, and bake for five to ten more minutes. The last few minutes of baking without the foil will create a delicious, slightly crispy cheese topping!
You can easily add vegetables like broccoli, peas, or even spinach. For additional protein, try adding bacon, chicken, or turkey.
Recipe Tip
When whisking the soup, sour cream, and milk together, be sure the mixture is smooth before adding the noodles and ham. This ensures the casserole has a creamy, even texture with no chunks.
