Cooking Tips
When dipping the truffle into the chocolate, I recommend using a fork to assist with this step. This is how you get smooth-looking truffles. You’ll coat the truffle, then gently tap the fork on the bowl to remove excess chocolate. Using a fork allows the excess chocolate to drip through the fork prongs cleanly.
Recipe Variations
- Swap candy melts for almond bark if you do not have almond bark.
- Use various sprinkle colors to match any theme or holiday!
- Add peppermint extract to the filling at Christmas and top with crushed candy canes for a merry treat!

Jess Jankowski says
My kids always have so much fun making these. So easy and super yummy!
Margaret says
Looking forward to making these. Can one use the 1/3 less fat brick of cream cheese instead of the regular cream cheese?
Jess Jankowski says
Hello, we do not recommend using the less fat cream cheese as the regular cream cheese is what helps give the truffles the creamy texture.
gerri williams says
Do you have to use the white bark or can you use just white melts
Jess Jankowski says
Almond bark has a richer flavor than candy melts but you can substitute the candy melts for the almond bark and still achieve a yummy truffle.
Dee says
How many does one recipe make?
Jess Jankowski says
Hi Dee, the recipe makes 24 truffles.
Jill says
Sounds awesome! Are there issues with the candy coating “sweating” when you remove them from the refrigerator and put them out to serve?
Jess Jankowski says
Hi Jill, we have not experienced any issues with that after they have hardened in the fridge. Hope you try them and enjoy!
Amanda says

Vanessa says
So delicious and addictive! The best part is that they are easy enough for my kids to make…so they can make me treats for once haha.
A J Walker says
Read twice but not sure if you remove the cream in the middle of the cookie. The mix in the food processor looks very dark….so wondering?
Jess Jankowski says
Hello, no you do not need to remove the cream in the middle of the cookie. That way you get the “cookies n cream” taste. The mixture will become dark from the outer cookie layers. Enjoy!

What a fun patriotic treat! We didn’t have any red or blue on hand so we just subbed it out for some melted chocolate drizzle. So fun and easy to make!
