Peppermint Dip Recipe
When the holiday season gets busy (and let’s be honest—it always does), I reach for this peppermint dip again and again. It’s a true Christmas dip recipe hero: no-bake, ready in just 5 minutes, and made with simple ingredients I already have stocked for holiday treats.
This dip is light, fluffy, and incredibly creamy thanks to the whipped topping, and every bite delivers a wonderful peppermint flavor. Serve it with cookies or pretzels, and watch people go back for more!

Recipe Tips
Turn this dip into a pie. Just add the filling to a pre-made chocolate pie crust and freeze for 2-3 hours.
Chill for 10 minutes before serving. Even though it’s a no-bake, instant recipe, a short chill firms up the texture and helps the peppermint flavor shine.
Pulse, don’t pulverize the peppermint. If you’re using a food processor, pulse in short bursts to avoid over-processing, which turns the crushed candy canes into peppermint dust that melts into the dip instead of giving you that signature crunch.
Ingredients & Cost:
Here are the ingredients you need to make this dip, along with some tips and substitution recommendations.

- Cream cheese (8 oz – $1.98): Let it soften so it is easier to achieve a smooth, creamy texture.
- Powdered sugar (½ cup – $0.13): Sifting it before mixing it into the dip helps prevent lumps.
- Peppermint extract (¼ teaspoon – $0.07): A little goes a long way; be careful with the measurement, as it can be overpowering if there is too much.
- Cool Whip (8 ounces – $1.24): Instead of Cool Whip, you can use 1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream and ¼ cup of powdered sugar, whipped to stiff peaks.
- Peppermint candy (½ cup – $1.24): Use candy canes, peppermint bark, or Andes mints as an alternative.
- White chocolate chips (½ cup – $0.76): Substitute with milk or dark chocolate chips.
The recipe cost is calculated based on the amounts needed and may vary due to fluctuating grocery costs. The pricing for this recipe was updated in November 2025.
How To Make Easy Peppermint Dip
Beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, extract, and Cool Whip together, fold in the remaining ingredients, and serve. Let me show you how.
- Beat the cream cheese until smooth. This should take about a minute.
- Add in the sugar and peppermint extract and beat until combined. This should take about 30 seconds.

- Add the Cool Whip and beat until smooth. Beat the dip for about one minute.
- Fold in the peppermint candies and white chocolate chips.
- Put the dip in a serving bowl and serve. Or place in the fridge to chill until ready to serve.

Peppermint Dip Recipe FAQs
Yep. Just wait to mix in the peppermint candies so they do not melt or soften while stored in the fridge. You can make it the day before you want to serve it.
In addition to serving this dip with chocolate graham crackers and chocolate-covered pretzels, chocolate or vanilla wafers, Oreos, brownie bites, shortbread, and even strawberries make great dippers.
Place the peppermint candy discs or candy canes into a Ziploc bag and lay them on a flat surface. Then, using either a mallet or the bottom of a can of food, hit the bag to break the candy into pieces. Continue doing this until the pieces are split to the size you would like.
