Quick Turkey Gravy
This brown gravy couldn’t be easier. It’s made right in the Instant Pot using the flavorful drippings left behind after you pressure cook your turkey breast. Not only does it cost just pennies to make (a total win for the budget!), but it also frees up your stovetop for all those other delicious side dishes you are making for Thanksgiving dinner.
Ingredients & Estimated Cost:
Five ingredients are all you need to make this easy gravy recipe.

- 3 cups turkey broth (3 cups – $0.00): Creates a rich flavor base for the gravy. Use chicken or vegetable broth as a substitute.
- Cornstarch (3 Tablespoons – $0.14): Thickens the gravy. All-purpose flour will also work.
- Water (6 Tablespoons – $0.00): Helps make the slurry with the cornstarch. You can also do this with broth.
- Salt and pepper (To taste – $0.05): Enhances the overall flavor of the gravy.
The recipe cost is calculated based on the amounts needed and will vary depending on fluctuating grocery costs. The pricing for this recipe was updated in September 2025.

Storage Tips
SERVE: The gravy can be kept at room temperature for up to 2 hours.
STORE: Keep the gravy in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
FREEZE: Since this is not a cream or milk-based gravy, it will freeze beautifully! I like to let it cool to room temperature and then pour it into a Ziploc freezer bag.
TO REHEAT: Thaw the gravy in the fridge overnight. Then heat it in a saucepan over medium heat until heated through. You may need to add approximately ¼ cup of water or broth, as the freezer tends to dehydrate items slightly.

Instant Pot Turkey Gravy Recipe FAQs
If you don’t have pan drippings, or you want to make this gravy ahead of time, then I suggest using Turkey stock (grocery stores usually carry it around Thanksgiving) or chicken stock.
Just note that this will increase the price of the gravy because you’re not using the drippings from our Instant Pot Turkey Breast recipe. Also, if you don’t use our pan drippings, you will have to add 1 Tablespoon of poultry seasoning.
Whisk in more cornstarch slurry (a mixture of cornstarch and water) a little at a time until you reach the desired consistency.
Whisk in more liquid, such as water or broth, until the desired consistency is reached.
You do not have to strain the gravy. It will not change the taste, but will change the consistency due to the vegetables.
