Grinch Pancakes Recipe FAQs
IHOP began serving their famous Grinch Pancakes with the movie’s release in 2018. As they were promotional items, they are no longer available at IHOP. You can, however, get the same great taste with our recipe!
The best tips for making great pancakes are in the process of how you make the pancakes. Whisk together the dry ingredients first before adding the wet ingredients. This helps make sure there are no lumps in the batter.
Then, avoid the urge to overmix the batter. Overmixing will activate the gluten in the batter, resulting in chewy pancakes instead of light and fluffy.
Get Kids Involved
Ages 2-3: Ask your little one to help stack the two pancakes on top of each other and then sprinkle the red hearts on top of the pancakes. This will be a great hands-on activity to involve them in the recipe.
Ages 4-5: Your child can help by pre-measuring the ingredients for the cream cheese glaze, whipped cream, and pancakes. Additionally, ask your child to stir in the green food coloring. This will be an excellent opportunity to discuss how the consistency and color of ingredients change as different ingredients are added to the recipe.
Ages 6-8: After filling the piping bag, teach your child how to pipe the whipped cream onto the top of the pancakes. They will love being able to add this finishing touch to the pancakes.
Ages 9-11: Supervise them while they prepare the entire recipe. Remember to have them read it twice before beginning the recipe.
Ages 12+: Let them prepare the entire recipe unsupervised while you do the happy dance in the corner!
