Important Recipe Tip
Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. Make sure the pork chops reach 145°F for perfect doneness—this helps avoid overcooking and keeps the meat juicy and tender! My favorite meat thermometer can be found here.
Recipe FAQs
What if I don’t have a meat thermometer?
Cook the pork chops for 10-12 minutes, and check with a knife to ensure they are no longer pink in the center.
What kind of apples go with pork?
Pork tends to be bland, so enhancing its flavor with a sweeter apple variety is best. Honeycrisp, Golden Delicious, and Pinata are the sweetest apples that hold their shape well while baking.
Can I make this recipe without brining?
Brining the pork chops is the secret sauce to this recipe. I do not recommend skipping this step. It adds moisture and flavor to the pork, resulting in juicy bites of meat.
Storage Tips
SERVE: You can keep these out for no longer than two hours.
STORE: Leftovers will keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
FREEZE: I do not recommend freezing this recipe because of the baked apples (when re-heated, they’ll be like mush).

Recipe Variations
- For flavor variations, you can make this recipe with pears, peaches, plums, or apricots.
- Sometimes, I like to add sliced onion rounds to the butter pads before placing the pork chops on the baking sheet.
- I like to sprinkle the apples with cinnamon or apple pie spice during the fall.
