Recipe Tips
I love making fun, family-friendly drinks like my Copycat Sonic Slushes, Frosted Lemonade, and this Italian soda recipe. I’ve made this recipe hundreds of times, from church events to my own wedding, and these are my best tips for getting perfect results every time.
- Use crushed ice for the best texture. It creates a colder, more refreshing drink without watering it down as quickly.
- Pour the club soda in first. This helps preserve the bubbles before adding the syrup and cream.
- Experiment with flavor combinations. Have fun with this recipe! The flavor combinations are endless, and the kids love mixing flavors to create their favorite custom drink.
Ingredients & Estimated Cost
You only need 4 base ingredients to make a fun and flavorful Italian soda bar.

- Ice (enough to fill glasses ¾ full – $0.00) – Use a blender to crush the ice if you do not have pebble or crushed ice.
- Torani flavored syrup (1-1½ cups – $2.75) – While I prefer Torani syrup, any brand, such as Monin, DaVinci, or another syrup found in grocery stores, can also be used.
- Half-and-half (3 cups – $1.74) – Heavy cream can be used as a substitute.
- Club soda (4 cups – $0.72) – Use plain sparkling water or seltzer water as an alternative to the club soda if needed.
The recipe cost is calculated based on the amounts needed and may vary due to fluctuating grocery costs.

Sure. You can omit the cream and just mix the club soda with the flavored syrup; it will not be as creamy, but it will still taste delicious.
This is a tough question! There are so many flavor options that I do not know which flavor is best. I love a good piña colada flavor combo; my kids love strawberry, and anything with vanilla is delicious!
No, they are not the same. Club Soda is a carbonated drink used to make an Italian Cream Soda. When paired with flavored syrup, ice, and cream, club soda makes a delicious concoction known as an Italian Soda.
I like to garnish with whipped cream and fresh fruit slices. Colorful paper straws are also a cute addition.
