Recipe Tips for the Best Frosted Lemonade
If you love Chick-fil-A favorites as much as I do, like my Chick-fil-A Oreo Milkshake and Chick-fil-A Sauce, these simple tips will help you make the creamiest, most refreshing Chick-fil-A Frosted Lemonade at home so you can skip the drive-thru next time.
- Use freshly squeezed lemon juice instead of bottled juice for the best flavor. Fresh lemon juice enhances the tangy brightness of the Frosted Lemonade and adds a refreshing quality that bottled juice may lack.
- Make sure your vanilla ice cream is slightly softened. Let it sit at room temperature for 5–10 minutes so it blends smoothly without overworking the blender.
- Blend just until smooth. Overblending can melt the ice cream too much, making the drink thinner.
Ingredients & Estimated Cost
You only need four simple ingredients to make this delicious treat on a hot summer day or anytime you want.

- Lemon juice (⅔ cup – $1.40): Bottled lemon juice works in a pinch, but I highly recommend using fresh for the best lemon flavor.
- Granulated sugar (6 Tablespoons – $0.15): You can adjust the amount of sugar depending on the tartness of your lemons.
- Ice water (¾ cup – $0.00): Cold water helps create a thick consistency and frosty beverage.
- Vanilla ice cream (6 cups – $4.98): While any brand will work, I prefer to use a premium ice cream for the richest flavor.
The recipe cost is calculated based on the required amounts and may vary due to fluctuating grocery prices.
How To Make Chick-fil-A Copycat Frozen Lemonade
Chill the water, blend the lemon mixture, blend the ice cream, and serve. Let me show you how.
- Chill the water with ice cubes for several minutes until it’s ice-cold.
- Pour lemon juice, sugar, and ¾ cup of ice-cold water into a blender. Blend until the sugar is dissolved.

- Scoop an entire 48-ounce container of ice cream into the blender. Blend until smooth and creamy.
- Pour into glasses and serve immediately for refreshing Frosted Lemonade.

Recipe FAQs
I developed this recipe using fresh lemon juice, creating the closest copycat version that I could. However, you can substitute thawed frozen lemonade concentrate. It will probably have a slightly sweeter, more concentrated lemon flavor.
Add some fresh strawberries, bananas, or peaches for a fun twist and additional flavor.
Also, you can use lime or orange juice instead of lemon juice. If you use orange juice, then you will want to omit the granulated sugar.
I also add various flavored syrups, such as orange, strawberry, raspberry, etc, for more fun flavor twists.
Yes, double the ingredients, and blend in batches if your blender cannot hold all of the ingredients at once.

I wanted to use things I have in hand so I used a whole lemon (peel and all), whipping cream, agave nectar and ice. It was awesome and I could control my sugars too. Thanks for the inspiration!

We love that you used what you had on hand and made it your own!
Jen says
Can’t believe how easy this was to make and it came out just as good as the Chick-fil-A one! I used less ice cream because mine was way to hard to scoop, but it came out good. I’m so mad that we use to spend so much money on something that was so easy to make at home.
