Baked Spaghetti

Ingredients

  • 1 pound spaghetti
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasonings
  • 32 ounces pasta sauce
  • 4 tablespoons butter melted and slightly cooled
  • 2 large eggs at room temperature
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 16 oz container small curd cottage cheese
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

PREP OVEN AND BAKING DISH:

  • Move oven rack to middle position and preheat to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.

COOK SPAGHETTI:

  • Cook spaghetti according to package directions.

COOK MEAT:

  • Cook ground beef in a large skillet until completely browned. Drain off the fat, and then stir in onion powder, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and pasta sauce.
    Mix the cooked ground beef together with pasta sauce.

MIX TOGETHER SPAGHETTI LAYER:

  • In a large heat-proof bowl, whisk together melted butter, eggs, and Parmesan cheese.
    Whisk together melted butter, egg, and Parmesan cheese.
  • Once the spaghetti is done cooking, drain, and add spaghetti to the butter and egg mixture. Toss spaghetti until evenly coated.
    Toss the cooked spaghetti in with egg, butter, and Parmesan cheese.

ASSEMBLE AND BAKE:

  • Place half of the spaghetti into the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Evenly distribute half of the cottage cheese on top, then half of the meat mixture, followed by half of the shredded mozzarella cheese.
    Layer with spaghetti, meat sauce, cottage cheese, and mozzarella.
  • Repeat the layers and cover the baking dish with foil.
    Layer with the remaining ingredients and cover with foil.
  • Bake for 30 minutes, and then uncover, rotate the pan, and bake 8-10 minutes longer, or until cheese is melted.
    The finished baked dish fresh from the oven.
