chef's knife
cutting board
- 1 ½ teaspoon vegetable oil
- 1.5 pounds lean ground beef
- 1 cup finely chopped yellow onion
- ½ teaspoon dried ground ginger
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ⅔ cup teriyaki sauce
- 12 ozs frozen broccoli florets
FOR SERVING:
- 5 cups cooked rice
- ½ head iceberg lettuce for lettuce wraps
GARNISHES (optional):
- Toasted sesame seeds
- Sliced green onions
In a large skillet heat 1 ½ teaspoons vegetable oil over medium-high heat for about 1 minute.
Add beef, onion, ginger, and garlic to skillet. Cook, breaking up the meat as you stir until the beef is no longer pink and the onion is tender (about 5-7 minutes). Drain off the oil and grease, and return meat to skillet.
Stir teriyaki sauce and frozen broccoli into the beef mixture. Bring to a low simmer and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes, just until sauce thickens slightly and the broccoli is cooked.
Serve over rice or in lettuce cups. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions (both optional).
