Chocolate Glazed Donuts

  • 4 cups peanut oil for frying
  • 2 cans Pillsbury large buttermilk biscuit dough


  • 3 cups powdered sugar divided
  • 7-10 Tablespoons milk
  • 1 ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup + 2 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder


  • Colored sprinkles
  • Chocolate sprinkles



  • Heat peanut oil in a large heavy-bottomed pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat until it reaches 350 degrees F.


  • In a pie plate whisk together powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and 4 Tablespoons milk. Keep whisking in ½ tablespoon of milk until the desired consistency is reached, and set aside.
    Whisk together the glaze ingredients in a medium bowl.


  • Place biscuits on a cutting board and cut out the center of each biscuit with a 1 1/2-inch round cookie cutter.
    Use a 1 1/2 inch round cookie cutter to cut holes in the middle of the biscuits.


  • Place 3 donuts in the preheated oil and fry until golden, about 1-2 minutes. Use tongs to flip the donuts and fry until golden, about another 1 minute.
    Fry the donuts until golden on both sides.
  • Move donuts to a wire rack to cool for 3-5 minutes.
    Take the donuts out of the oil and place them on a wire rack.
  • Repeat with the remaining donuts and donut holes.
    Note: The donut holes will only need 30-60 seconds per side.


  • Spread chocolate icing over the douts and top with sprinkles. Serve.
    Spread the chocolate glaze over the donuts using a butter knife.
