Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 2 Tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt

COATING:

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

PREP OVEN AND BAKING SHEETS:

  • Move the oven rack to the upper-middle and lower-middle positions. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Line baking sheets with silicone baking mats or parchment paper.

MAKE COOKIE DOUGH:

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, cream together butter and 1 ½ cup sugar until fluffy and lightened in color.
  • Add eggs, milk, and vanilla extract and beat until smooth.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture and combine until no flour streaks remain.

MAKE COATING:

  • In a small bowl whisk together ¼ cup sugar and cinnamon.

ROLL COOKIE DOUGH:

  • Scoop cookie dough using a cookie dough scoop or tablespoon and roll dough into balls.
  • Roll the dough in the sugar and cinnamon coating and place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheets.

BAKE AND COOL:

  • Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the cookies are slightly set in the center for a soft cookie, or longer if you want more of a crisp cookie.
  • Remove the baking sheets from the oven and cool on wire racks for 5 minutes. Then, remove the cookies from the baking sheets and cool completely on wire racks.
