French Silk Brownies

Ingredients

FOR THE BROWNIES:

  • 18 oz box Ghirardelli Double Chocolate brownie mix
  • ¼ cup water
  • cup vegetable oil
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup mini chocolate chips

FOR THE CHOCOLATE FILLING:

  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened to room temperature
  • 1 ⅓ cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 16 oz container Cool Whip divided
  • ¼ cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions

PREP OVEN AND PAN:

  • Preheat the oven according to brownie box instructions.
  • Grease a 9x13-inch pan with non-stick cooking spray.

MAKE BROWNIES:

  • Prepare the brownie batter according to the box instructions.
  • Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Set the brownies aside to fully cool.

MAKE CHOCOLATE FILLING:

  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, confectioners sugar, cocoa powder, heavy whipping cream, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Fold in half of the Cool Whip.

ASSEMBLE:

  • Spread the chocolate filling evenly over the top of the cooled brownie layer.
  • Spread the remaining Cool Whip across the top of the chocolate filling layer.

CHILL:

  • Place the brownies in the refrigerator to chill for at least 2-3 hours or overnight.

TO FINISH:

  • When ready to serve, sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips over the top.
  • Slice and serve.

Notes

These brownies can be prepared the night before.
