These Chicken and Waffle Sliders are served with coleslaw and a drizzle of maple syrup. They’re perfect for game day and brunch! You can also serve them plain with just maple syrup.
This recipe costs $5.56 to make eight servings. That works out to be about $0.70 per serving.
Game Day is not complete without an array of mouth-watering appetizers. Some of our favorite appetizers to serve with these sliders are our Crockpot Cranberry Meatballs and this Crockpot Chile Con Queso.
Chicken and Waffle Sliders
Chicken Waffle Sliders are a favorite of ours. Jill introduced these sliders to us from her other site, and we love them so much, we knew we had to share them with you here.
They are a classic-Southern dish in bite-size form. They are sweet and savory, and nothing compares with that combination, in our opinion.
This is always a crowd-favorite appetizer because of the perfect combination of ingredients: crispy waffles slider, the crunchy fried chicken, and tangy coleslaw with the sweet syrup drizzled on top. These Mini Chicken and Waffle sliders have the right texture and the taste that checks all the boxes!
If we are feeding a crowd, we love to serve these sliders as an option. Or even for a fun brunch. The recipe is simple to make with just a few ingredients.
They come together in just twenty minutes by using pre-made chicken tenders and waffles. We include two different ways to make these Chicken and Waffle Sliders in our recipe card below.
You can include the coleslaw for an additional texture and flavor experience, or leave the coleslaw out and add the drizzle of syrup on top of the waffle.

- Repeat with the remaining waffles, coleslaw, and chicken finger pieces.
- Finally, drizzle with maple syrup and serve.
RECIPE VARIATIONS AND SUBSTITUTIONS
This recipe is flexible to make the sliders with or without coleslaw. If you make them without coleslaw, you can add a drizzle of maple syrup over the top of the waffles.
STORAGE TIPS
SERVE: These are best made and served immediately. You can keep them out for about 60-90 minutes before they need to be covered and refrigerated.
STORE: These do not keep very well, especially if you put coleslaw on the chicken and waffle sliders. If possible, store the waffle and chicken pieces separately. With that said, you can cover and refrigerate the sliders for about 8-12 hours.
FREEZE: This recipe does not defrost well, therefore we do not recommend freezing it.
COOK’S TOOLS

RECIPE FAQs
Absolutely! You might think that chicken and waffles do not go together. But this is a case where opposites attract. The sweet and the savory come together for the perfect flavor explosion in your mouth.
We love drizzling syrup over our chicken and waffles. It adds the perfect touch of sweetness to each bite.
If you are serving these as an appetizer, see our list of appetizer recommendations below. Our Mac and Cheese, Corn on the Cob, or our Caesar Salad all go well with these Chicken and Waffle Sliders if you are doing these for dinner.
GET KIDS INVOLVED
Ages 2-3: A fun counting activity will be to have your little one count the mini waffles as they help break them apart. They’d also love helping you drizzle the syrup over the sliders.
Ages 4-5: Your child can help stack the sliders with the chicken pieces and poke the toothpicks through the waffle and chicken pieces.
Ages 6-8: This is a great recipe to help build your child’s confidence in the kitchen. Teach them how to safely and adequately use the toaster and then direct them to build the sliders on their own.
Ages 9-11: Supervise them while they prepare the entire recipe. Remember to have them read it twice before beginning the recipe.
Ages 12+: Let them prepare the entire recipe, unsupervised, while you do the happy dance in the corner!
BUDGET TIPS
One strategy we try to use often is to buy multiple boxes of frozen waffles and packages of pre-cooked chicken when they are on sale to have easy access when we want to make these sliders. Because they are kept in the freezer, they will stay fresh for quite a while, so if we do not use them right away, it is not a waste.
